So I have some friends that (simply put) are amazing! They have an amazing etsy site, so you should show them some love. They first displayed their wares at Hunt and Gather in Crown Point, Indiana. They sell vintage name brand goods, think of your inner Mad Men – vintage Christian Dior, Le Tigre, Lacoste, Givenchy, Dior etc. as well as various vintage Coach and amazing records! Alas, these awesome cats were without a logo.
I sat together with one of the co-founders and we went though some fonts and came up with some ideas. Since they sell vintage items, obviously we needed a cool vintage font to reflect that. So when I designed this logo, I started with the font and then built up the image.
After trying various things, we decided on this. Since they sell records as well, we decided on putting a record on the top. The HCV letter font was one that we liked but it wasn’t enough for the actual logo. The flourishes at the top and the bottom remind me of something on an old postcard but upon further glance the co-founder said it reminded him of the theater. Pretty amazing!
After I was done with the logo, we printed out some cards and tags to hang on the clothes. The hardest task was next to come!
Honestly I have never really painted on a plexiglass sheet before. It was NOT easy and I wonder if I should have used the paint people use on windows! Since it was orange, I didn’t do a reverse painting on the back as we didn’t want the lettering to look orange but a nice pure white!
It took MANY coats of white on this baby! Having to go over your lettering more than one time was hard enough, but going over these suckers 3 times was NOT fun! We were on a timeline and needed something for a show. If I had more time, trust me, these suckers would have been cut in some beautiful vinyl lettering!
